What is Human Resource Information System (HRIS)? 

A human resource information system is a software application used to store employee information and to conduct various HR functions such as payroll, recruiting, benefits, training, etc. This term is often used interchangeably with HRMS which stands for Human Resource Management System. HR can organize employee information like name, address, contact numbers, birthdate, employment status, etc through this application. HR can also easily view data points and share them with others.
